                                 NiNi Harris, noted local author

                                                 As she introduces  her new book:

                                   “This Used To Be St. Louis”

Noted local author NiNi Harris has researched and written fourteen books on St. Louis history and architecture.  Her education began with her grandmother recalling tales of life in the old immigrant communities as she baked cakes and pies from scratch.  Much of Harris’s time is spent digging through crumbling records, and documenting the history of this great city.

    "A Brief History of Landscape Architecture in St. Louis"

by Esley Hamilton" 


Esley Hamilton was preservation historian for teh St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation from 1977 to 2015.  He also taught historic preservation and the history of landscape architecture at Washington University's School of Architecture from 1992 to 2013.  Among his honors is the honorary degree of doctor of arts and letters, awarded by the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 2009.  His book, St. Louis Parks, co-authored with NiNi Harris, appeared in 2012.  Currently he is continuing part-time with County Parks and working on a new book about historic buildings in the County
