- Miriam Moynihan & Ryan Buckley, "South Broadway Athletic Club: St. Louis's Home for Boxing, Wrestling, and Cheap Beer since 1899"
- The South Broadway Athletic Club was established in 1899. Two of SBAC’s early freestyle wrestlers brought home bronze medals at the 1904 Olympics, and over the years the club has produced some of the city’s best boxing and wrestling talent. In this talk, authors and SBAC board members will discuss the club’s rich history, including how it has survived through the hard work and dedication of members and has been a cornerstone of the Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis for over 125 years. SBAC is one of only a few surviving athletic clubs from an era when organized boxing and wrestling first became popular forms of entertainment in the U.S.
